2020-08-09-Ruth 2-In the Fields of Boaz

We worship together outdoors AND online.  Hope you are blessed!

Hello!

This week, August 9, 2020 we met again outdoors behind our Big White House under the shade of the jacaranda trees.

Of course the chairs were set apart for social distancing and we had ice cold water available.  Come join us next week if you couldn't make it this week.

COVID-19 Protocols in Our Church

we sanitze it after each service...
social distance amongst congregants...
require a face mask...
and remind folks if they feel sick, then they should stay home...

Here are some photos of what our outdoor worship area
looks like before the folks show up.
We hope to see YOU in one of these social distanced chairs with us soon!

We continue covet your prayers at this time.

Again, this weekend we have prepared a worship page for you that includes...
Thursday Night's Bible Study Powerpoint AND the Zoom meeting recording.  (Harvey remembered to push the "record" button this time.

The Children's Sunday School Lesson from Mrs. Denise...

some great YouTube versions of Christian Hymns and contemporary songs...

And for the main message by Pastor Harvey, we continue the amazing story of love and redemption from the Book of Ruth; this week is Chapter 2.

We hope this continues to bless you and draws you closer to God.

Remember, Denise and I are a phone call away if you want to pray together or just chat.  (Also remember that God is NOT far away, He has promised that He would never leave us - can I get an "Amen"!)

Please feel free to share this page with others; friends, family, strangers, enemies, etc. (we ALL need Christ! - Amen!)

And don't forget to comment below about anything that we can help you with.
Or any conversation you would like to start.

Thanks for all of your support!
For Him and His Kingdom,
Pastors Harvey & Denise

2020-08-02 - Ruth 1 - In the Land of Moab
Pastor Harvey

So a couple of speech corrections in main message..sorry...

1st -  Harvey says that Cinderella had an evil mother-in-law, she was actually her evil step mother...oops...

2nd - Harvey also said that God doesn't always give us what we need and gives us what we want.

In context, God SOMETIMES doesn't give us what we need, because SOMETIMES He allows us to have our wants NOT our needs, because He (God) still respects our free will.

Example - Israel was originally supposed to be a theocracy. But the people wanted a king, even though God knew that a theocracy was best for them, He still allowed them to anoint a king. God respected the free will of Israel, even though it wasn't best for them and God really knew better.

Hope these clarifications help!

Waiting to Reopen in 2020-Here is What We Are Doing to Keep YOU Safe when We Return

WE WERE REOPENED FOR LIVE  WORSHIP AT HIGHLAND PARK CHRISTIAN CHURCH
HERE IS WHAT WE ARE DOING TO KEEP YOU SAFE but New COVID-19 numbers have closed us down again.

First of all a HUGE "Thank You" to all who have been supporting our church both prayerfully and financially throughout these times.

I am sorry to inform you all that we are closing our doors again.  We have done done nothing wrong as a congregation in our worship.  You KNOW that we followed all the safety measures that had been recommend by the CDC, our state and our city health officials.  Thank you for complying with this in the past.

I do not believe that our little church contributed to the spread of this virus, but we don't want to "rock the boat".   The State governor and the mayor have requested (almost ordered, but not quite) that we close our doors to public worship (again).

The stats for COVID-19 have spiked.  As soon as the city of Los Angeles gets the numbers down again we will reopen for public worship while maintaining the COVID-19 safety protocols that are outlined below.

It has truly been a joy, a pleasure and a blessing to prepare the online-worship pages for you and your little ones, which we will continue to do throughout this time.

We want to remind you, that The Church is NOT our building (as you know), so really the The Church has never closed, (Matthew 16:17-18).

We thank all of you who have maintained Christlike characteristics throughout this time.  Many have reached out and offered love and assistance to those in and outside of The Church and continue to do so.

This page will serve as an updated source of information for you to keep you informed about our building reopening process and procedures.

We Re-Opened for Church Services
on Sunday, May 31, 2020

and then closed again, until governor/mayor orders differently

Steps we take at Highland Park Christian Church to help you worship in safety.

Again, we are closed again for public worship as of July 19, 2020.

When we get to reopen for worship, you do not need to feel obligated to return yet.

If you are in an "at risk" category, please stay home and take care of yourself.

We will miss and pray for you, but your health is of paramount importance.

Additionally, we will record and upload the message to this site after the service for those that cannot join us yet.

Please take time to read the following...
As we still need to be responsible and vigilant during this time when reopen.

Face masks are required for entry

Please bring your own face mask that covers your nose and your mouth.

Hymnals have been removed

Hymnals have been removed from the seats. We will worship with the lyrics on screen.  We WILL sing while donning our face masks.

NO children's Sunday School

We love children and would love to have you bring them to worship with us, but unfortunately, at this time we cannot accommodate children's Sunday School.

Social Distancing guidelines are applied

We have taped off every other row to keep that 6' distance and request that family groups stick together.

This means smaller gatherings, if we need to do a second service, then we will.  You may be asked to return later.

Social Distance Estimates

Hand sanitizer is now available

Bottle of hand sanitizer is available near the entryway of the church.  (But you are welcome to bring your own.)

We look forward to seeing you when we can reoopen and will keep you informed.

If you are able to join us, please come on by.  We will welcome you from a distance with an "air-hug";  that is a wave!.. But rest assured, we will be smiling under our masks and would love for you to join us if possible.
