Job Part II - We were originally going to devote on message to Job, one of our Bible Characters that we are studying and learning about.  However, there is a great deal of insight to discover as we go through the entire book of Job.

This week was our second week examining Job during his plight and attack by Satan.

We learned that Eliphaz, one of Job's three friends, was really no help to Job and offered him no comfort at all when Job finally spoke up about his anguish and called aloud to God for relief.

We continue to pray that you will invite Jesus into your life and make Him Lord of your life, if you haven't already.
And if you need to take care of this please call Pastor Harvey at 323-316-7131 and he will be glad to pray with you.

Blessed Be the Name

After singing a few songs, then as a congregation we read together aloud the following scripture...

Psalm 145:1-13
New American Standard Bible
The Lord Exalted for His Goodness

Psalm 145:1-13
1 I will exalt You, my God, the King,
And I will bless Your name forever and ever.

2 Every day I will bless You,
And I will praise Your name forever and ever.

3 Great is the Lord, and highly to be praised;
And His greatness is unsearchable.

4 One generation will praise Your works to another,
And will declare Your mighty acts.

5 On the glorious splendor of Your majesty
And on Your wonderful works, I will meditate.

6 People will speak of the power of Your awesome acts,
And I will tell of Your greatness.

7 They will burst forth in speaking of Your abundant goodness,
And will shout joyfully of Your righteousness.

8 The Lord is gracious and compassionate;
Slow to anger and great in mercy.

9 The Lord is good to all,
And His mercies are over all His works.

10 All Your works will give thanks to You, Lord,
And Your godly ones will bless You.

11 They will speak of the glory of Your kingdom,
And talk of Your might,

12 To make known to the sons of mankind Your mighty acts,
And the glory of the majesty of Your kingdom.

13 Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom,
And Your dominion endures throughout all generations.
The Lord is faithful in His words,
And holy in all His works.

Blessed Assurance

Job - A Patient Sufferer - Part II
Harvey Simpson

Here is the text from the sermon.
We used a many verses from Job and a few from the New Testament today.

Job 3:11-17 NASB
[11] "Why did I not die at birth,
Come forth from the womb and expire?

[12] "Why did the knees receive me,
And why the breasts, that I should suck?

[13] "For now I would have lain down and been quiet;
I would have slept then, I would have been at rest,

[14] With kings and with counselors of the earth,
Who rebuilt ruins for themselves;

[15] Or with princes who had gold,
Who were filling their houses with silver.

[16] "Or like a miscarriage which is discarded,
I would not be,
As infants that never saw light.

[17] "There the wicked cease from raging,
And there the weary are at rest.
And all flesh will bless His holy name forever and ever.

Job 4:12,14-17 NASB
[12] "Now a word was brought to me stealthily, And my ear received a whisper of it.

[14] Dread came upon me, and trembling,
And made all my bones shake.

[15] "Then a spirit passed by my face;
The hair of my flesh bristled up.

[16] "It stood still, but I could not discern its appearance;
A form was before my eyes;
There was silence, then I heard a voice:

[17] 'Can mankind be just before God?
Can a man be pure before his Maker?

Job 5:17-18 NASB
[17] "Behold, how happy is the man whom God reproves,
So do not despise the discipline of the Almighty.

[18] "For He inflicts pain, and gives relief;
He wounds, and His hands also heal.

John 15:1-2 NASB
[1] "I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser.

[2] Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit,
He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit, He prunes it so that it may bear more fruit.

Job 5:27 NASB
[27] "Behold this; we have investigated it, and so it is.
Hear it, and know for yourself."

John 9:3 NASB
[3] Jesus answered, "It was neither that this man sinned, nor his parents; but it was so that the works of God might be displayed in him.

Job 6:14-18 NASB
[14] "For the despairing man there should be kindness from his friend;
So that he does not forsake the fear of the Almighty.

[15] "My brothers have acted deceitfully like a wadi,
Like the torrents of wadis which vanish,

[16] Which are turbid because of ice
And into which the snow melts.

[17] "When they become waterless, they are silent, When it is hot, they vanish from their place.

[18] "The paths of their course wind along, They go up into nothing and perish.

Job 7:4-7 NASB
[4] "When I lie down I say, 'When shall I arise?' But the night continues, And I am continually tossing until dawn.

[5] "My flesh is clothed with worms and a crust of dirt, My skin hardens and runs.

[6] "My days are swifter than a weaver's shuttle, And come to an end without hope.

[7] "Remember that my life is but breath; My eye will not again see good.

Job 7:14-16 NASB
[14] Then You frighten me with dreams
And terrify me by visions;

[15] So that my soul would choose suffocation, Death rather than my pains.

[16] "I waste away; I will not live forever. Leave me alone, for my days are but a breath.

John 10:10 NASB
[10] The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.

Matthew 28:18-20 NASB
[18] And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.

[19] Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,

[20] teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."
